| The most commonly used
caster is the plate caster. These casters can be used in both
light duty applications such as home or office furniture, and
heavy duty applications such as in your garage or shop. Depending
on your specific needs, plate casters vary in weight capacity
(50 lbs. - 10,000 lbs.) and caster size (2” wheel - 12” wheel).

| These casters normally
range from 50 lb capacity each to 150 lb capacity each. Wheel
sizes generally start at 2” in diameter and go up to
4” in diameter. There are many different wheel compounds
that can be used such as soft rubber, hard rubber, dyna tred,
grey rubber, and others. Depending on your specific application,
there may also be different plate sizes available. Light duty
casters are generally used in the home, office, or light shop
applications. |

| Medium Duty Plate

| A medium duty plate caster
generally has a wheel size of 3” in diameter to 5” in
diameter. Capacity rating of a medium duty caster generally
is from 174 lbs to 300 lbs for each caster. There are may
different wheel compounds available to suit your specific
need. Hard rubber, soft rubber, polyurethane, polyolefin,
and many more. When using a medium duty caster, always remember
the softer compounds produce less noise but harder compounds
give more capacity. Medium duty casters can be used in your
home, garage, and some shop applications. |

| Heavy Duty/ Extra
Heavy Duty Casters |
| Heavy duty casters generally
start with a wheel size of 4” in diameter and are available
all the way up to 12” wheel diameter. Remember in heavy
duty applications, the larger the wheel diameter, the easier
the product is to roll. Weight capacity in heavy duty applications
becomes extremely important. Weight capacity for heavy duty/
extra heavy duty casters generally range from 350 lbs up to
2500 lbs and above. Many different compounds are available,
depending on your specific needs; steel, mold on rubber, mold
on poly, phenolic, plasteel and others. Heavy duty casters
are generally found in shop and industrial applications. |
